DJI Osmo Action 3: A Review of the Latest Action Camera from DJI

DJI, the world's leading drone and camera company, has recently launched its third-generation action camera, the Osmo Action 3. This camera is designed to capture stunning videos and photos in any environment, whether it's on land, in the air, or underwater. In this blog post, we will review some of the key features and specifications of the Osmo Action 3, and compare it with its predecessor, the Osmo Action 2.

The Osmo Action 3 has a sleek and compact design, weighing only 145 grams and measuring 70.5×44.2×32.8 mm. It has a dual-screen system, with a 1.4-inch front screen and a 2.25-inch rear screen, both with a resolution of 326 ppi and a brightness of 750 cd/m². The front screen allows you to easily frame yourself when vlogging or taking selfies, while the rear screen provides a clear and intuitive interface for adjusting settings and reviewing footage.

The camera is equipped with a more comprehensive stabilization system, which provides three stabilization modes to choose from: RockSteady 3.0, RockSteady+ HorizonBalancing, and HorizonSteady. RockSteady 3.0 adopts a new generation of intelligent stabilization algorithm, which can effectively eliminate camera shake in all directions. RockSteady+ HorizonBalancing adds an extra layer of stabilization by keeping the horizon level at all times, even when rotating or tilting the camera. HorizonSteady is a mode that allows you to lock the horizon angle manually for creative effects.

The Osmo Action 3 also boasts an impressive image quality, thanks to its large 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor and wide-angle f/2.8 lens with a field of view of 155 degrees. The camera can shoot up to 4K video at up to 120 frames per second (fps), or up to Full HD video at up to 240 fps for slow-motion effects. It also supports HDR video recording for enhanced dynamic range and color accuracy in challenging lighting conditions.

The camera has various shooting modes to suit different scenarios and preferences, such as standard recording, slow motion, hyperlapse (time-lapse with motion), timelapse (time-lapse without motion), countdown (for self-timer shots), single (for still photos), digital zoom (up to 4x for photos and videos), HDR recording (for videos only), etc.

The camera has an internal storage capacity of up to 256 GB via microSD card slot (not included). It also supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for remote control via DJI Mimo app on your smartphone or tablet device.

The Osmo Action 3 is waterproof up to 16 meters without any additional case or accessory required (although it is recommended to use one for longer underwater shooting or higher water pressure environments). It also comes with a removable lens protective cover that can be replaced with optional filters such as ND filters or polarizers.

The battery life of the Osmo Action 3 is rated at about

160 minutes when shooting at Full HD resolution at

30 fps with RockSteady on [1]. The battery is removable

and rechargeable via USB-C port.

and HorizonSteady [9], offering more flexibility

and creativity.

- Higher waterproof rating: from

11 meters [10] without case,

or up to

60 meters [11] with case,

to

16 meters without case,

or up to

60 meters with case [12],

making it more versatile for underwater shooting.

- Larger front screen: from

1 inch [13]

to

1 inch [14],

making it easier to frame yourself when vlogging or taking selfies.

- Higher rear screen resolution: from
